Hiring an Electrician During Lockdown

Website Editor

Inevitably as lockdown continues there will be some of you who need an electrician, and so as to avoid serious injury you’ll need to call someone out. How can you reduce the risk of spreading or contracting the virus during this uncertain time?

What are we doing, what are you doing to mitigate the spread of the virus?

Communication is important and you’ll need to convey to your electrician what the problem is and they will, of course, need to convey to you how they intend to confidently work within the safety measures. The last thing you need, as well as worrying about your electrical problems, is catching the virus through poor practice. The electricians need to communicate with you clearly on what they’re doing to mitigate spreading the virus so as to avoid any confusion.

Who can come into your home and when?

They will also need to know from you if anyone in your household has the virus or is self-isolating. Ask the electrician whether they’re free of symptoms too. Depending on where you are, you will need to rebook your electrical work to coincide when everyone has finished self-isolating if that is the case.

This is what you’ll need to do if an electrician comes into your home.

You’ll naturally be expected to keep your distance and stay at least 2 metres away from your electrical contractor. You won’t be able to make contact with them, that includes shaking hands offering them a snack or a drink or even staying in the same room while they carry out their work.

Making sure your home is ready for an electrician during lockdown.

Make sure there are some towels and, wipes, gloves etc and a place ready for them to wash their hands after, they’ll also need to watch their tools. They should be wearing adequate PPE and this includes a face mask and gloves that meet the safety requirements.
